This notice applies to you if you submit credit cards for processing through the RestEZ
system. Take note that RestEZ does not process credit cards, but utilizes
other 3rd party products to do so. RestEZ has no direct relationships with
credit card companies, processing networks, etc. Please be advised that a much
larger number of you, and the current documentation from Visa, and M/C seems
to be indicating that the merchant receipt not be truncated while the customer
receipt should be (note the dead links to their other documents). We
understand, of course, that many of you have lodged complaints as a result of
your customers that complain about seeing their credit card number on the
merchant receipt. This change, of course, is brought about because the credit
card companies have realized that truncation of all receipts would create a
huge problem in terms of chargebacks. Either way, both set of patches are
available. If you feel that you must have a merchant receipt that does not
truncate the account numbers, and are currently using the patch that does,
please contact your RestEZ reseller or contact us directly for more
information or pricing.

This notice applies to you if you submit credit cards for processing through the RestEZ
system. Take note that RestEZ does not process credit cards, but utilizes
other 3rd party products to do so. RestEZ has no direct relationships with
credit card companies, processing networks, etc. In addition, please be advised that a large number of merchants are interpreting
the new Visa, M/C, and Amex requirements to mean that the merchant's copy of
the receipt is not subject to truncation, but the credit card owner's receipt
is. In the opinion of many, for a variety of reasons, this is completely
absurd. Ironically, our 2nd wave of the initial series of patches did precisely
that. However, after attending a number of ETA and ISO related meetings and in
our attempts to interpret the language of
the documents outlining the requirements, we rolled back these patches,
because the language of the requirements and the opinions rendered by the ETA
did not support leaving any credit card slip non-reducted. From our perspective, this is a relatively simple issue. All we
need, as the developer, is an answer. However, we also clearly understand the reasons credit
card companies don't address this issue head-on in their documents, have confused the issue, and probably don't know what to do.
Our legal staff has contacted the legal departments at the credit card company
level and is waiting for
a definitive answer in the form of a yes or a no. In the meantime, please
refer to the following documents the credit card companies have provided to
our merchants which we are posting for your review:
Credit Card Industry Final Letter,
Charge Back Resolution. Until such time as we get a definitive reply, both
patches are available, including to the new credit card servers. The new
servers, however, will have to be rolled back, if you do not wish to truncate
the merchant's receipt.
For merchants that are asking what do we do with the yellow and pink
copies of the receipt and how do we use a multipart-form receipt? The answer
is, if you do not intend to truncate the merchant's receipt, you will have to
change the way you have been operating and produce receipts from the software
rather than to rely on the copies. We understand the issues of printing times,
but we do not have a logical methodology to accomplish selective truncation
and still keep the multipart-form methodology. As a consolation, think of
this: some POS systems rely exclusively on multipart-part forms to print out
receipts. With that in mind consider the expense involved in bringing your
installation to these requirements. One thing is certain, credit card
companies are imposing regulations onto others trying to patch their own
design flaws in terms of security while refusing to bear the cost of the
implementation.

This notice applies to you if you process credit cards through the RestEZ
system. Please be advised that there is a series of new servers available
corresponding to your credit card processing software. Truncation patches that
star out the credit card number, will not have to be rolled back, if you
acquired these in the past, but will perform a duplicitous function.
Specifically, the truncation functions will be performed at the server level,
thus, making it easier to match the different versions of the software you may
have operating.Forpricing and, if you wish to acquire this
server, please contact your reseller or contact RestEZ directly.
