Getting Started ====================== When you start RestEZ you are presented with a keypad and a small window with the demo login codes. Different employees will be able to perform different functions within the system based on their job title. Note the code of the employee you wish to log in as, click the window to clear it from the screen. And login using the keypad. Before you go on note that almost everywhere in the system there are BACK, and LOCK buttons: Back: Takes you back a screen. Lock: Takes the system back to the login keypad. these 2 buttons appear on almost every screen in the system and are very important for navigating through the screens. Many of the concepts learned in the table service side of the system are the same in other parts of the system so we will focus mostly on the table service employee and touch lightly on the other employees. As a full out explanation of every feature of the system is beyond the scope of this document, please feel free to experiment with features not covered here. Most of the system is fairly straight forward and self explanatory. 001 Table Service ----------------- a. Picking a table When you log on as a table server you immediately see one of two things. If you are defined to work in only one room you are taken directly to the tables screen of the room to which you are assigned. If you are defined to work in more than one room you are presented with a choice of rooms to view. Once at the tables screen you will see a layout of the room and a number of icons at the bottom. Go ahead and click on a table enter the number of guests at the table and you are taken to the order screen. b. The order screen The order screen is divided into 2 main sections. On the left is the ticket and on the right is the menu. First concentrate on the menu. Most menu items you will initially see are actually categories which, when clicked on will take you down a level to menu items that fall under that category. Clicking the 'TOP' Button at the bottom of the screen will always take you back to the top level of the menu. Once you go down a level note that there is now a 'BACK' button at the bottom left of your screen; Use it to back up 1 level on the menu. Click around the menu and place some items on the ticket. Note that some items automatically pop up a window with special instructions. This window is accessible for any item on the ticket, but some items REQUIRE a special to be entered. Clicking a blank special button will allow you to define a new special instruction. Note that at any time you may click the 'half moon' icon at the bottom of the ticket to switch between 6 different menus (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Bar, Wines, Special) These menus are normally driven by time or type of employee logged in (ie, bartender see's bar menu). Once you have place several items on the ticket press lock and you will see output intended for remote printers on the screen (Demo version only), and be taken to the keypad once again. c. The table screen revisited Log in once again using the table servers code and let's look at the table screen again. Look at the table you ordered items on and you will see that a few things have changed. There is a single yellow star on the table to indicate that items have been ordered and sent to the kitchen. The number of guests at the table has been placed next to the table number (eg, table 001, five guests looks like: 001:5). Lastly there is a timer to let you know when the party at this table was seated. The timer can be updated by clicking the timer icon at the bottom of your screen. If you like you can also add the party's name to the display by clicking the 'abc' button, entering the name and then clicking the table. d. Creating the guest check Click on the table you ordered food on and from the order screen click the 'CHECK' button. you are presented with a window full of operations to perform on this ticket. For now concern yourself only with the 'CLOSE' button. Close the ticket (Combined if seating is on) and the system will print a guest check to be placed on the table. Lock the system once again and log on as a table server, and on the tables screen note that your table has changed once again. Now a green star has been added to the table to indicate that the guest check has been placed onto the table and you are awaiting payment from this party. Let's assume payment has been received and click the table again. When the order screen appears, press the 'CHECK' button again and now select 'PAY' from the check window. e. Paying out the check The payment screen is laid out like a cash register with a few extra buttons. Note the total on the left and enter the amount tendered using the keypad, the $5, $10, and $20 incremental buttons on the left, or the 'EXACT' button. Use the 'CLEAR' button to clear the amount tendered a few times and become familiar with the different methods for entering the amount, pressing the 'ENTER' button each time to display change due. At the bottom of the screen are buttons to allow you to enter a payment method for this check. When you are satisfied with the payment method and Amount tendered/change due press 'DONE' to finish the transaction. You have the option of printing a receipt for the customer and are taken back to the login screen. 002 Fast Food ------------- The fast food employee sees basically the same screen as the table server with a few extra buttons. As you enter items onto the check you will see a running total at the top. Pressing total brings the payment window into view and paying out a ticket sends the order to the kitchen. The 'TOOLS' icon acts as the 'CHECK' button does on the table service side. The row of numbers at the bottom allows you to set the quantity ordered of the currently selected item. Selecting the 'DEFERRED PAYMENT' (looks like a road sign) icon allows payment to be deferred until a later time. (eg., when a driver returns with the money) 003 Delivery ------------ The delivery section is almost identical to the fast food section except that it requires you to enter a phone number (either manually or with a caller ID capable modem) and it tracks customer records, and orders. 004 Bartender ------------- The bartender's section of the system is very similar to the table servers section with a few extra features: The ability to open a running tab or sell drinks on the fly. The ability to attach a shirt/pants color to a tab for quick visual reminder of who the tab belongs to. The ability to look up the recipe for a given drink. 005 Manager ----------- The managers section of the system is vast. The manager has the ability to go into any section of the system plus sections no other employee may access such as: Reporting, System Maintenance, Employee Maintainence, Menu / Table Layouts, Closeout functions. Most of the managers functions are fairly explanatory so take some time to explore the managers options. Try changing key settings of the system and observe the effects these changes have on other employees. 006 Bus Boy ----------- The bussers section of the system is extremely limited. As a busser when you log in you will be presented with the tables for the room to which you are assigned or have selected. You may press the 'CLEAN TABLE' icon (looks like silverware) and then select a dirty table to mark clean. 007 Cashier ----------- 008 Hostess ----------- The hostess can view the table layout of any room. When you select a table when logged in as a hostess, if the table is empty you will be able to set the size of the party and the seat time for the table. Otherwise you will see a detail window with information about the table. 4.
